The first Golden Retriever I ever saw belonged to a doctor I worked with in 1966. She was so beautiful and unlike any other dog I had ever seen. The doctor took me to the kennel of her breeder and I was just in awe of all the beautiful dogs and lovely facilities the owner had. The kennel belonged to Cliff McDonald and was named Shadywell Kennels. He put me in touch with Jean and John Crawley of Aspen kennels and from them I purchased a ten month old bitch. He put me in touch with Jean and John Crawley of Aspen kennels and from them I purchased a ten month old bitch. Her name was Elizabeth of Aspen. She was my first golden in a long line of them to follow.
I still have to this day direct descendents of her after 37 years. My first litter was born to Elizabeth in March 1972. Liz was my first Champion and from her first litter we kept a male back and finished his Ch. WC and CD. Her second litter produced Avey who became an American Canadian Ch. all owner breeder handled and winner at Madison Square Gardensand many specialties in Canada and the U.S..Four children also followed along with my ever growing Golden population. My Goldens have always been an integral part of my family and over the years the presence of so many wonderful dogs has left us with many fond memories and many wonderful friends. The offspring from these goldens have influenced the homes and lives of many people. In the beginning we lived in Streetsville and in 1986 moved to Adjala, a part of the lovely Hockley Valley area which is about one hour north of Toronto. Our farm of 50 acres is the home of Ambercroft Kennels and we offer boarding facilities to our clients.
